Jeffrey Roether is a business litigation lawyer who assists clients with a wide variety of litigation and pre-litigation issues in state and federal courts. He works on commercial disputes involving contracts, business torts, trade secrets, and unfair trade practices, as well as real property disputes and land-use litigation. Jeffrey also assists clients with dispute resolution and analyzing regulatory requirements to minimize future litigation risks.

Prior to joining Morningstar Law Group in Durham, Jeffrey was a litigation attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York City and served as Law Clerk to the Honorable John F. Keenan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

  • Obtained dismissal of federal class action against insurance marketing organization alleging breach of contract, fraud and various other tort claims
  • Obtained dismissal of tortious interference with contract and misappropriation of trade secret claims filed in N.C. Business Court against commercial landlord
  • Represented developer in lawsuit against local municipality and successfully recovered unauthorized development fees
  • Represented developer in land condemnation action filed by local municipality, resulting in significant financial recovery and acquisition of development rights
  • Represents property owners in enforcing restrictive covenants, easements, and other property rights
  • Assists clients with navigating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and other complex regulations to minimize future litigation risk
