Morningstar Law Group Announces Two New Partners

January 7, 2015

Morningstar Law Group recently named two new partners to the firm: Michael Birch and Michael Ovsievsky.

“It is with great privilege that I announce that effective January 1, 2015, Michael Birch and Michael Ovsievsky will become partners of the firm,” said Grayson Hale, one of the founding partners of the firm. “We are honored to call them partners and very much look forward to the many years ahead.”

Michael Birch  focuses his practice on land use and zoning, commercial real estate, and land use and real estate related litigation. Michael regularly represents landowners and developers before local governing boards, planning boards and boards of adjustment in communities across the state and assists in the development process at the zoning, site plan, conditional and special use permit, variance, building permit and enforcement stages of a project. Michael graduated from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

Michael Ovsievsky is a transactional attorney with experience in a diverse range of legal areas with an emphasis in complex commercial real estate and finance matters, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate transactional engagements.  In his primary practices, Michael represents property owners, developers and lenders in the acquisition, disposition, development and financing of residential and commercial real estate projects, where he has significant experience in horizontal and vertical mixed use projects, and counsels landlords and tenants in negotiating leases for office, medical office, industrial, restaurant and other retail space.  In addition to his work on behalf of Morningstar clients, Michael serves as adjunct professor at the Kenan Flagler Graduate School of Business at the University of North Carolina where he teaches real estate law.
