Jennifer (Collins) Van Doren


Jennifer  (Collins) Van Doren is a technology and licensing attorney with more than 20 years of experience advising clients regarding intellectual property law and commercial transactions.

As a business attorney, Jennifer takes a business-oriented, practical approach, seeking the best results for her clients. She has represented clients of all sizes, including several Fortune 100 companies, in complex, strategic intellectual property transactions, such as collaboration agreements, joint development agreements, product divestitures, license agreements and IT and business process outsourcing agreements.

She has also represented clients in advertising, promotions and sweepstakes legal compliance for more than 15 years. Prior to co-founding Morningstar Law Group in 2012, Jennifer was a partner at Womble Carlyle, where she practiced for 16 years. At Womble Carlyle, she was the head of the firm’s Intellectual Property Transaction Team.

Jennifer has published numerous articles and given numerous presentations on the topics of licensing, IP transactions, advertising, promotions and sweepstakes.

Jennifer is licensed to practice in North Carolina. She graduated first in her class from University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 1995. She received her undergraduate degree in English and History from Clemson University in 1990. She started her legal career by clerking for U.S. Magistrate Judge, Hon. Alexander B. Denson in the Eastern District of North Carolina from 1995-1996.
