About

Gene is a founding partner of Morningstar Law Group and has been a corporate and securities attorney in the Triangle for over 18 years. He serves as a trusted adviser to a broad range of public and private companies. Gene regularly advises clients on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs, fund formation and investment, corporate finance, private equity, securities offerings and financings, venture capital and complex commercial transactions. Gene’s industry experience includes the following: pharmaceutical, software, information technologies, electronics, military/defense contractors, furniture, textiles, communications, building products, real estate, convenience stores, energy, electric membership corporations (EMCs) and manufacturing, distribution and service companies.

Prior to Morningstar Law Group, Gene was a partner in a local office of an AmLaw 100© law firm where he was co-chair of its M&A Team.

Gene values engagement in the local community and believes that the legal profession has a unique role to play in serving the public just as our clients make important contributions to the community. Collectively, these contributions make the Triangle a world class region and sustain the businesses which operate here. He views his community engagement not as a separate activity but as central to the practice of law.
