Judge Shannon Joseph Joins Morningstar Law Group

June 26, 2014

Morningstar Law Group is excited to announce that former Superior Court Judge Shannon Joseph has joined the firm’s litigation practice. Ms. Joseph is a civil litigator with experience in intellectual property, administrative and business disputes. She also is certified to conduct mediations of North Carolina Superior Court cases. Before joining the Superior Court bench, Ms. Joseph served as a North Carolina Administrative Law Judge and was in private practice for more than a decade as a civil litigator and appellate advocate with one of North Carolina’s leading firms. While a Superior Court Judge, Ms. Joseph was selected by her peers to help craft pattern jury instructions and to present educational programs on civil and criminal law topics. Ms. Joseph is a graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was the Managing Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review and was made a member of the Order of Barristers.

Shannon Joseph’s arrival at Morningstar significantly strengthens the firm’s already robust business litigation practice by expanding the scope of its expertise and deepening its bench of seasoned civil litigators. Morningstar’s litigation team has many years of experience handling real property, land use, municipal law, employment law, trade secret, intellectual property, administrative law and general business cases. Shannon Joseph also brings the firm special insight into the North Carolina Court system through her experience as a judge.

Morningstar Law Group was founded in 2012 by 10 attorneys who left large firms to pursue a new model for the provision of legal services. Morningstar has experienced steady growth during the two years of its existence. Shannon Joseph’s arrival raises the number of Morningstar lawyers to 21.
