Morningstar attorneys Emily Moseley, Swain Wood, and Chris Jackson played an important role in the landmark voting rights decision handed down by the Fourth Circuit on July 29, 2016, by representing numerous individual state legislators who served as key witnesses in the case, including Sen. Dan Blue (Raleigh), Rep. H.M. “Mickey” Michaux (Durham), and the late Sen. Earline Parmon (Forsyth). The testimony provided by these witnesses was a critical part of the evidentiary record that led the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down a host of restrictive measures as violating the Voting Rights Act.
