We are proud to announce that Jason Barron, one of the founding partners at Morningstar Law Group, has been selected to receive the Triangle Business Journal’s prestigious 40 under 40 Leadership award.
The 40 Under 40 awards recognize outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their contributions to their organizations and to the community. Five judges from the local business community and TBJ reviewed nearly 250 nominations to select the final list of 40 winners in the 2016 class.
Jason earned his place in the 2016 40 Under 40 class by devoting countless hours to public service in Raleigh, Cary and Wake County. In Raleigh, Jason has been a close advisor to the board of the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation since 2009. Jason also has played a leading role in the Blue Ridge Corridor Alliance since 2014, an organization which is helping to plan the future development in the area around Blue Ridge Road. Jason also has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Science since 2015, where he focuses upon maintaining the quality of this venerable institution that attracts visitors to Raleigh.
Jason has been just as active in Cary, serving as an active member of the Cary Chamber of Commerce since 2013. Jason regularly participates with the Chamber’s Development Committee, on a multitude of matters impacting economic growth in the Town. Jason also is a member of the Advisory Board to the Cary YMCA, and in that capacity has the special privilege of serving on the Cary Kraft Regional Capital Campaign Committee, a small group of individuals that is responsible for raising funds for capital improvements for YMCAs in western Wake County.
Jason also is a participant in numerous study groups and commissions which have helped shape the community. Jason is a frequent contributor at Cary Town Council meetings, and has played as key role in the development of many of Cary’s most progressive land use plans and policies. Jason also played a leading role in the Town’s creation and implementation of its current Champion Tree Ordinance.
Jason’s community service also has encompassed all of Wake County and the Triangle as a whole. Jason served as a member of the Board of the Triangle Chapter of the Green Building Council from 2010 to 2012, chairing its Development Committee. Jason is himself a LEED certified professional, a distinction which underscores his devotion to encouraging Green Building principles throughout the region. He also has been a member of the Triangle Chapter of the Urban Land Institute’s TAP Committee. The TAP Committee is the Technical Assistance Program that Urban Land Institute offers. And in early 2016, Jason was appointed to the Wake County Planning Board where his expertise in land use issues will be used to the benefit of residents of the entire County.
It is important to note that Jason volunteers his time to these many community activities. Jason does what he does for the community because he cares about the Triangle. This is where he has chosen to live and raise his family, and he considers activities of this type to be what responsible citizens do – lending significant portions of their time, professional skills and talents to help improve their community for the benefit of all who live there now, and in the future. He is an example for young professionals to follow.
Jason truly has earned the distinction of being one of the TBJ’s 40 under 40 Leaders. Please join us in congratulating him!
